Arlene Catherine Gerdes

Arlene Catherine Gerdes, 73, of Litchfield, IL, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Litchfield Health and Rehab Center. 

Arlene was born January 5, 1950, in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of Clifford and Mary Vaughn Gerdes. She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1968 and attended cosmetology school. She was a member of Montgomery County Breast Cancer Support Group and Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield, IL.

 
Arlene loved to take care of her yard, spending endless hours tending to the yard and her garden.  She liked to bowl and play softball as well as listen to country music. She especially loved her grandkids. She worked as a Managerial Assistant to the director of the Index Department for the Secretary of State for many years. 

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mary Gerdes, brother, Lonnie Gerdes, and sister, JoAnn Gerdes.

 
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Litchfield Family Funeral Service. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 pm, with Reverend Fred Kreamer presiding. 

Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Mt. Olive, IL.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (Jeremy) Welsh of Farmersville, IL, daughter, Amy (Jake) Davidson of Palmetto, FL, brother, Gary (Sharon) Gerdes of Litchfield, IL, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Montgomery County Breast Cancer Support Group.
