John Theodore Boerckel III

John Theodore Boerckel, III, of Litchfield, IL, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at his residence in Litchfield, IL.  
John was born on March 9, 1951 to John T.and Caroline Buzick Boerckel.  John worked as a laborer building grain dryers for Zimmermann in Litchfield, IL, and  later for GSI. He retired in 2012 after 42 years. 
  
John loved to fish, hunt, and tend to his garden. 
  
He is survived by companion Karen Hockett,  his children, Joni (Lonnie) Mayfield of Norwood, MO, John (Shannon) Boerckel, IV of Hillsboro, IL, grandchildren: John T. Boerckel,V, Cody Allen Boerckel, Leslie (Chris) Tinsley, Tyler (Stephany) Harris, and step granddaughter Taylor Mayfield, siblings, Terry (Joann) Boerckel of New Douglas, IL, Nancy Brewer of Litchfield, IL, Carol (Kenny) Ondrey of Livingston, several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. 
  
John was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Amy Boerckel,  brothers Jimmy Boerckel , Gene Boerckel, and  Darren  Boerckel,  sister in law, Linda Boerckel, as well as his grandparents John and Edith Boerckel, Sr. and Toney and Cora Buzick.
  
Visitation will be held  at Litchfield Family Funeral Service, 700 S. State St., Litchfield, IL on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 9-11:00 am.
     
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024,  at Litchfield Family Funeral Service with Mike Rogers officiating.
  
Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.
