Katherine "Katie" Whitehouse

Katherine "Katie" Whitehouse, 83, of Litchfield passed away Tuesday November 28, 2023, at 1:46 am at Heritage Health Care in Litchfield, IL. She was born on July 29, 1940, in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of Michael and Catherine (Semplowski) Funk. She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1958.   Katherine "Katie" married Jack D.  Whitehouse on August 3, 1963, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Litchfield, IL.

She was employed as a kitchen and bath designer at RP Lumber before retiring several years ago. She was a huge animal lover and was devoted to caring for her golden retriever "Bill". Katie enjoyed gardening, decorating, fishing, thrifting, and attending auctions.  She had a great sense of humor that delighted many. Katie had many interests, but her greatest love was family and friends. She was a talker and never met a stranger. She was one of the sweetest people in the world and will be truly missed. Katie was the youngest of 13 children.

She is survived by her three sisters, Helen Zimmerman of Dublin, OH, Sophie Southworth of Litchfield, IL, Edna Nail of Litchfield, IL; and brother, Mike (Nancy) Funk of Litchfield, IL; 25 nieces and nephews, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Catherine Funk, spouse, Jack D. Whitehouse, sisters; Stephanie Ranch and Regina Nail, brothers; Lou Funk, Walter Funk, Charles Funk, Stanley Funk, Frank Funk, and Joseph Funk.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 4, 2023, at 10:00 am at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. Reverend John Hannigan will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Monday, December 4, 2023, from 9:00-10:00 am at Litchfield Family Funeral Service. Memorials may be directed to PAWS Care of Montgomery.
