Carolyn R. (Pine) Laurie

Carolyn R. Laurie, 82, of Gillespie, IL, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at 12:50 P.M. at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Carolyn was born on August 23, 1935 in Baylis, IL, a daughter of the late Raymond & Dorothy (Waggner) Pine.

She married Ivan “Mike” C. Laurie on June 27, 1955 and he preceded her in death on September 6. 2009.

Carolyn graduated from Bunker Hill High School and went on to attend Browns Business College in Springfield, IL.

Carolyn was a member of the Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Gillespie., Il where she also served with the Alter Society. She was also a member of the Goldwing Road Rider Association Chapter E.

Mrs. Laurie was a receptionist at Dr. Guyan & Dr. Amy Smith’s Optometry office for several years, before retiring in 1999.

She is survived by her children: Kevin (companion Joan Vazzi) Laurie of Nokokmis, IL, Javene (Richard) Willows of Mt. Olive, IL, and  Brenda (Scott) Korunka of Mt. Olive, IL; grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) Willows & Brandon Willows; great-granddaughter, Alice Willows; brother, Thomas (Gloria) Pine of The Villages, FL, and Donald Pine of Edwardsville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, & brother, Charles Bruce Pine.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. The Very Rev. Albert Allen, V.F. will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday October 17, 2017 from 4 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Atwater, IL. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Macoupin County Cancer Association or the Benld Adopt-A-Pet .
