Dottie Hampton
Dottie Belle Hampton, 77 of Litchfield, IL, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at 3:49 A.M. at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Dottie was born on October 27, 1939 on the family farm in Honey Point Township in Macoupin County, a daughter of the late Fred Carrico & Leita Maude (Ray) Thornton. She married Paul Hampton on September 6, 1964 at the Barnett Christian Church in Litchfield, IL and he survives.
Dottie graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1957. She then went on to obtain her nursing degree from Memorial Medical School of Nursing in Springfield, IL and started her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Francis Hospital in 1964. Dottie also worked for St. Francis Home Health and was a CNA instructor for Capital Area Nursing in Springfield and Lincoln Land Community College. Dottie retired from her nursing career in 2015.
Dottie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the annual Hampton Family vacations. Dottie also enjoyed baking. Dottie was a member of Barnett Christian Church serving as treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and organist and she was also a member of Litchfield Women’s Club and the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary. Dottie made a difference in the lives of her patients, CNA students, friends, and especially family.

Sister, Mary Ann Sanders of Edwardsville, IL
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Fred Thornton & granddaughter Madeline Ray Randle.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield. Brother Ed Dively, Pastor Jon Magnuson & pastor Mike Drake will officiate. Burial will take place in the Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
