Hazel Davis Obituary

Hazel Mae Davis, 85, of Litchfield, IL, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 8:00 P.M. at the HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL.

Hazel was born a twin on March 16, 1932 in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of the late Alfred & Eliza (Kahl) Wilson. She was the 10th child of 13.

Hazel married Shirley L. Davis on March 19, 1950 and shared a double wedding with her twin sister, Ethel and husband Bill File. They were married in the Pleasant Hill Christian Church. Shirley preceded her in death on January 29, 1988.

She began working at a young age cleaning and ironing. She also cooked at several different locations including Camp Jomoco, Carriage House, Wooden Nickle, and Owens Country Corner. Later in life, Hazel opened up her home to many children, whom she babysat throughout the years and also cleaned and was a caregiver to many.

Hazel attended Honey Bend School and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Raymond, IL and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Hazel enjoyed collecting bells, Pink Lady’s & Denim Kids.

Hazel is survived by her five children: Lee (Davaline) Davis of Litchfield, Marie Davis-Kelly (companion Tom Bradburn) of Litchfield, Ron (Anita) Davis of Litchfield, Frank (Jeri) Davis of Applevalley, MN, Ramona Davis (Rob) Odorizzi of Litchfield; 11 grandchildren, Christy Holliday, Ronnie (Jen) Davis, April Davis (Dennis) Rottmann, Ryan (Miranda) Davis, Roger (Brittany) Davis, Ashley Mae Davis (Dustin) Everett, Jennifer Bobak, Frankie Davis II, Heather Owens (Craig) Murdock, Lee Owens, & Robbie Odorizzi; 22 great-grandchildren, SGT. Brett (Paulina) Holliday & Tyler Holiday, Ean & Ethan Davis, August & Dennis Rottmann, Ryan, Jr. & Reid Davis, Roger, Jr. & Reese Davis, Easton & Timberleigh Mae Everett, Blair & Tommy Bobak, Jake & Cody Davis, Sydney Murdock, Trenton, Audrey & Carly Owens, Gavin & Connor Odorizzi;  Twin sister, Ethel File of Litchfield, sister Evelyn Sites of Jackson, MO; brother, Alfred  “Alfie” Wilson of Hillsboro, IL.; sister in laws, Dee Wilson & Jeanne Davis Cruzan; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; great granddaughter, Brook E. Cox; brothers, Henry, Edwin, Walter, Arthur, Roy, Chuck, Bob; sisters, Alice Prose and Dorothy Billiter.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Raymond, IL. Ministers, Dave Ziegenbein & Lynn Laughlin will co-officiate.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 16 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL, Burial will take place at the Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend, IL. The family suggest memorial contributions be directed to the family of Hazel Davis.
