Kenneth Edward Meyer

Kenneth Edward “Dad” Meyer, 76, of Litchfield, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.  Ken was born on January 12, 1941 in Hillsboro to Guy G. and Mattie M. (Sellers) Meyer.  He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959.  He retired as a coal miner from Freeman United Coal Company in Virden.  He also worked as a truck driver for various companies and for Brown Shoe Company. 

He was an avid hunter who is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bea Kay (Bishop), whom he married on January 13, 1962 in Litchfield.  He has four children, Kenneth Dean (fiancé Michelle Grove) and Tina Davis (Jason) all of Mt. Olive; Sherlyn Pfeiffer (Dave) of Rochester; Guy (Christelle) of Belleville, and George Thompson, of Litchfield.  He has five grandchildren, Tara Hancock; Elise Meyer; Chloe Davis; Elijah Meyer; and Drake Pfeiffer.  He is also survived by a sister, Mary Lay of Litchfield, and was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vincent of Hillsboro and Joseph of Litchfield. 

Visitation with the family will be on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M followed by a memorial service at 3:00 P.M at Litchfield Family Funeral Service, 700 South State St, in Litchfield.  The family asks that donations be made to Montgomery County Cancer Assoc. or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
