Lawrence Edward Fuchs

Lawrence Edward Fuchs, 84, of Litchfield, IL, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at 9:45 P.M. at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on December 1, 1932 in Farmersville, IL, a son of the late Edward Frank & Ida (Nobbe) Fuchs.

Lawrence was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Farmersville and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, IL.

He attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from the Litchfield High School with the class of 1950.   Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Corporal, having proudly served from June 2, 1952 to April 16, 1954 overseas in Japan. He served during the Korean-Conflict and went on the Honor Flight in 2016.  Lawrence then went on to attend Bradley University in Peoria, IL and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in accounting.

He married the former JoAnn Warrick on October 12, 1958 at the Christian Church in Peoria, IL and she survives.

Mr. Fuchs worked in the accounting department of Shell Oil and Sears for 28 years before retiring in January of 1991.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, where he served as an elder and member of the Men’s Club.  He was active in many organizations serving as the President of the Calico Twirlers Square Dancing Group and member of the Model Train Club.

Lawrence enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises, square dancing, jig-saw puzzles, model trains, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn & son, Scott L. (Monica) Fuchs of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Pauline Leake of Litchfield, IL; daughter in law (Diane)Fuchs; 6 grandchildren Adam (Leah), Brian (Kiley), Austin, Heather, Steven, and Kathryn & 4 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents & son, Douglas in 2017; sister, Leona Niemann in 2008; brother, Harlen Fuchs in infancy & great-granddaughter, Lillian Fuchs.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in Litchfield Family Funeral Service, Litchfield, IL. Reverend Jim Ritter will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will be in the Edgewood Cemetery in Litchfield, IL. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Zion Lutheran Onward in Faith Expansion Fund.
