Leonard “Kenny” McKinley Taylor III, 69, of Litchfield, IL, was welcomed home peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 3:25 A.M. at his home surrounded by his loved ones in Litchfield, IL.
Kenny was born on April 3, 1948 in Taylorville, IL but reared in Georgetown Texas, a son of Leonard McKinley Taylor, Jr. & Effie Mae Cain.
He married the former Patricia “Dianne” Kean on March 3, 1967 in Hillsboro, IL and she survives.
Kenny was a construction laborer, having been a member of Hillsboro Local #1084 & Springfield Local #477. He had worked for several different locations including ACE Extrusion, Friesen, and Siciliano, where he was a foreman. Though, he was considered boss, he truly enjoyed pouring asphalt and road work and often said he missed a long, hard day’s work.
He enjoyed keeping his lawn immaculate by doing his yard work and planting his flowers every year, and watching his roses bloom. He enjoyed listening to country and gospel music and singing along. The most important aspect of his life was his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and always spoke about them when given the chance.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Taylor of Litchfield,IL; children, Brad Taylor of Livingston, IL, Lori (Ron) Roach & Lisa (Ken) Cress, both of Litchfield, IL; grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, & Luke Taylor, Misti (Nick) Reed, Hayden (Shayla Davis) Roach, & Kelsey (Caleb) Gibson; great-grandchildren, Wesley Reed, McKensey & Gabby Gibson; brother, Charles (Marlene) Taylor & sister, Linda Ramos.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Taylor, Carroll & Darrell Cain, Willie Cain & Terry Taylor; sister, Billie Ruth Brown& Joyce Cain & grandson, Jarod Cress.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. Pastor Rudy Elam will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6:00 until service time at Litchfield Family Funeral Service. Burial will be in the Elm Lawn Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hearts United in Litchfield.
