Zonna L. (Laird) Stratmeyer

Zonna L. Stratmeyer, 93, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday evening, June 16, 2018 at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab in Hillsboro, IL.

Zonna was born on October 23, 1924 to Otto and Fannie (Phrimmer) Laird in Joppa, Kentucky. She graduated from Joppa High School.

Zonna assisted her husband, Ernest at their veterinary clinic, Strats Veterinary Clinic in Litchfield. She was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield, where she was very active. Zonna was a member of the United Methodist Women, Litchfield Woman's Club, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, and Hillsboro Eastern Star. She loved to bake and was known for the cherry pies.

Zonna is survived by her son, Michael E. (Diane) Stratmeyer of Litchfield, IL; daughter, Marilyn (Robert) Hobson of Hopkinsville, KY; four granddaughters, Lynne (Derrick) Bruhn, Kelli (Doug) Ellinger, Sarah (Clay) McGinnis, and Lauren Hobson; grandson, Robert (Jayme) Hobson; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Zonna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Ernest H. Stratmeyer; daughter, Carolyn Sue Stratmeyer; great-granddaughter, Morley Grace Bruhn; sister, Mary Wentzel; brothers, Ambrose Laird, Alvin Laird, and Paul Laird.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2018, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 219 E. Union Avenue, Litchfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, 2:00 pm at the St. Timothy United Methodist Church, Litchfield, IL, with Rev. James Tinzmann, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Timothy United Methodist Church or the Quad County Hospice.
