Amos H. Rovey, 90, of Litchfield, IL passed away Thursday morning, October 22, 2015 at 6:40 A.M. at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Amos was born on January 10, 1925 in Springfield, IL a son of the late Herman and Emma (Farenholtz) Rovey.
Mr. Rovey was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. After returning home from the war in 1946, Amos purchased farm land north of Hornsby and was a lifelong farmer until moving in to town in 2008. He raised chickens and sold eggs.
Amos married the former Betty Van Huss on November 28, 1945 in Farmersville, IL and she survives.
Amos was known for having a green thumb and being able to raise beautiful flower gardens, especially his favorite, roses.
He was a photographer taking more than 10,000 frames and developing them himself in a dark room. He even took a “first” selfie in 1941. Amos enjoyed taking yearly trips with his family, traveling the states.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin Rovey
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Litchfield, IL. Pastor, Kevin Cook will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, October 26 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Rovey Cemetery in Farmersville, IL. Full military honors will be conducted at graveside. The family suggests memorials be directed to Faith Lutheran Church.
