Boyd Lively

Boyd E. Lively, 87, of Litchfield, IL passed away Wednesday morning, October 7, 2015 at 2:45 A.M. at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL.

He was born on June 5, 1928 in Nilwood, IL, son of Edmund Elsworth & Ethel Bernice (Jennings) Lively, Jr.

Boyd married the former Phyllis Foster on June 26, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, IL. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1946

Following his father’s tradition, Boyd owned and managed Lively Supply in Litchfield until its closing in 1983. Following the family business, Boyd worked at Barry’s nursing home in the maintenance department. He also worked at Rural King in Litchfield as parts manager and also repaired lawn mowers. Shortly after, he worked at Nails Power Equipment in the parts department, also in Litchfield.

Boyd was a member of the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church in Litchfield where he served as church treasurer for 40 years. He was also an alderman who was active in the beginning of Industrial Park in Litchfield. Boyd was also an active committee member of Lake Lou Yaeger. He was a Ham radio operator

Mr. Lively had many various activities that he enjoyed doing in his spare time including but not limited to: scroll woodworking, leather working, fishing, and built a camper for the family to enjoy.

                                    Jennifer L. Gaffney (companion Rick Hearn) of Litchfield, IL

21 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren

Cousins, Nancy Niehaus of Mt. Olive and Harry McGinnis (Ruth) of FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church in Litchfield, IL. Pastor Mike Rogers will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 (noon) P.M. until time of service in the church. Burial will be in the Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield, IL. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church.
