Charles S. "Sam" Roach, 85 of Litchfield, IL, passed away Tuesday morning, February 25, 2025, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Sam was born December 8, 1939, in Litchfield, IL, a son of Willie W. Roach and Lillie M. Fredericks Roach.
He married Doris Marburger on November 4, 1966 at Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, IL. They would have celebrated 59 years of marriage this year.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his five sisters: Ruby Bridgewater, Mary "Sis" Lahr, Margaret Smith, Violet Drake, and Carol Wilson and his eight brothers: William "Buddy" Roach, Harold Roach, Richard Roach, Oral "Oggie" Roach, Roxie Roach, Edward Roach, Ralph "Micey" Roach, and Carl Roach.
Sam retired in 2002 with over 37 years with the Spectrulite Consortium in the steel union. He enjoyed riding his bicycle, taking motorcycle rides in the country, walking his dog, traveling, and woodworking. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield, IL.
His great joy was spending time with his five grandchildren.
Sam served in the US Army for two years. The VFW will be conducting military rites.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, March 3, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery, with Rev. Rudy Elam officiating.
Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Litchfield.
Sam is survived by his wife, Doris Roach of Litchfield, IL, daughter, Tracy (Adam) Favre of Litchfield, IL, son, Todd Roach of Litchfield, IL, daughter, Tami (Audy) Fenton of Litchfield, IL, grandchildren; Carly Favre, Conner Favre, Cooper Favre, Samuel Fenton and Quin Fenton and several nieces and nephews.
