Dorothy Evelyn (Ruppe) Leitschuh

Dorothy Evelyn Leitschuh, 87, of Fillmore, IL, formerly of Litchfield, passed away Saturday morning at 12:15 a.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL.

She was born on November 23, 1929 in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of the late Esty Clyde & Ruby I. (Cook) Ruppe.

Dorothy married Raymond Leitschuh on June 5, 1948 in Litchfield, IL. He preceded her in death in 2011.

Dot worked at the Brown Shoe Factory and Roller Derby Skate Corporation where she packed the roller skates, both in Litchfield. Dot also drove the grain truck for her son, Michael on their family farm.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield and the Daughters of American Revolution (D.A.R.). 

From a young age, Dot found her love of genealogy and continued her research until she was no longer able. She has had written records dating back to her early teenage years. She enjoyed taking pictures of family and friends and has safeguarded them all.

She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1947.

She is survived by her son, Michael Leitschuh of Fillmore, IL.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Raymond.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday July 5, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg, IL.  The family suggests memorials be directed to the Green Hill Cemetery Association.
