Dorothy M. Mefford, 94 of Litchfield, IL, formerly of Carlinville, IL passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at11:35 P.M. at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Litchfield, IL.

Dorothy was born on September 23, 1921 in Carlinville, IL , a daughter of Ambrose & Elizabeth (Wreath) Ward.

Dorothy graduated from Carlinville High School & she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, IL.

She married Lindell Joiner on April 14, 1940 in St. Charles, Mo and they later divorced. She then married Kendel Mefford and he  preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynette (Michael) Jones of Litchfield, IL.

5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, sons, Dana Mefford, Randal “Woody” Mefford, and daughter, Linda Joiner.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Heart Association.
