Ethel F. (Bates) Lash

Ethel F. Lash, 70, of Kincaid, IL, formerly of Litchfield, IL, passed away on Saturday evening, December 6, 2025, at Hallmark Health Care in Carlinville, IL.  

Ethel was born May 20, 1955, in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of Roy A. and Ida Adaline (Stevens) Bates. Ethel attended Litchfield High School.  She married George Stewart and was later divorced. She then married Harry Lash on July 26, 1985, in Taylorville, IL. 

She was a nurse's aid for several years. Her passion in caring for others didn't end there. Ethel was also a homemaker, caring for and loving all of her children. She was a wonderful cook, who honed her skills cooking at a restaurant. Those great skills made her known for her delicious fried chicken. Ethel was a woman of many talents; fishing, hunting for mushrooms, baking and painting were also some hobbies she enjoyed. Ethel more than anything else loved to spend time with her family and friends. 

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, son, Scott Stewart, step-son, Mark Lash, two great grandchildren, Darius and Lowgun, brother, Jim Bates, brother, Larry Payne, brother, Roy L. Bates, sister, Pat Reid, and sister, Anna Estell.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, December 15, 2025 at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield, IL.

Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield.

Ethel is survived by her husband, Harry D. Lash of Kincaid, IL, son, Kevin (April) Stewart of Butler, IL, daughter, Kim (Tony Pellhum) Stewart of Litchfield, IL, daughter, Michelle Kearney of Kincaid, IL, sister, Carol Jeffers of Litchfield, IL, sister, Tammy Heyen of Kincaid, IL, nine grandchildren; Brittani Vail, Heather Stewart, Jessica Kearney, Skyler Stewart, Karlie Moore, Coltan Wicker, Austin Kearney, Sam Stewart, and Kaylee Pellhum, two step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
