Floyd Wayne Nail, 90, of Litchfield, IL, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 at his residence in Litchfield.
He was born on October 29, 1930 in Hillsboro Township, a son of the late Theodore and Ruby (Cavender) Nail.
Mr. Nail attended Litchfield High School and married the former Edna A. Funk on July 2, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Litchfield. She survives.
Mr. Nail was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served from October 1948 until October 1952.
Floyd worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Litchfield as a foreman from 1946 until its closing in 1964. He later worked at Morton Building as a salesman and retired after 5 years of asbestos removal.
He was a member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge for 68 years and was the oldest active member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. Floyd also enjoyed watching the “Old Westerns” on television.
Along with his wife, Edna Nail of Litchfield, he is survived by his Daughters, Mary Jo (Tony) Frank of Mattoon IL, Barbara (Terry) Alexander of St. Petersburg, FL; Sons, Fred (Audrey) Nail of Benld, IL, & Mike Nail of Buter, IL; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee (Regina) Nail, Oran (Irma) Nail, Leonard (Fay) Nail; Sister and brother-in-law, Louise (Levi) Laird.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. Pastor Rudy Elam will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Veterans’ Memorial Garden Fund or the Arthritis Foundation.
