Ivy Jane Gill, 79, of Mount Olive, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at her home.
Ivy was born October 11, 1946, in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Jane (Gimlin) Hardt. She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1964 and married Franklin Gill on October 17, 1964, in Litchfield, IL. She later attended Lincoln Christian College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministry in 2009, graduating Magna Cum Laude—a long-awaited goal that reflected her dedication to service.
Ivy was a devoted community servant who touched countless lives through her many roles. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, farmer's wife, seamstress, and homemaker. She provided substitute ministry services for churches around Macoupin County, sharing her faith and compassion wherever she was needed. Ivy was also a storekeeper at Hearts United in Litchfield and a member of AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary.
An accomplished seamstress, Ivy learned her craft from her grandmother, who was a professional clothier. Ivy possessed a remarkable gift for bringing any idea to life in fabric. She worked for many years creating costumes for local plays and musicals and lovingly created and reimagined clothing for special occasions. Given some cloth and a general idea, she could make magic happen.
Ivy was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Erma Sellers-Hardt.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Gill of Mount Olive, IL; son Warren (Janice) Gill of Austin, TX; son Loren Gill of Peoria, IL; grandchildren Alic and Leighton Gill; brother Lindell (Vernetta) Hardt of Litchfield, IL; stepbrother Merl Sellers (Joan) of Falls Church, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Litchfield Family Funeral Service, Litchfield, IL.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Mt. Olive Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in Cedar Ridge Cemetery at Honey Bend.
