James Gregory "Greg" Reuther

James Gregory “Greg” Reuther passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 5:45 A.M. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born to Jim and Shirley Reuther of Springfield on October 13, 1955. He was a 1974 graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield, IL. He was 66 years old.

 

Greg moved to Litchfield to continue the family business. He opened Reuther’s Illini Glass Co. and served the Hillsboro, Litchfield and surrounding communities for nearly 40 years. He was a member of the St. Louis Drag Boat Association and loved to be on the lake. He also liked to rebuild and restore classic vehicles and spent most of his free time working in his garage on various projects. 

 

He is preceded in death by his father, James Walter Reuther, and a granddaughter, Rylee Grace Quinn. 

 

He leaves behind his mother, Shirley Reuther of Springfield, a sister, Barb Reuther and partner Lee of Springfield, and an uncle, Thomas Woodrome of Springfield. He also leaves behind four children, James “Tony” Reuther, and wife Sara of Divernon, Jennifer Reuther-Barrett and husband Daniel of Virden, Danielle Bailey and husband Levi of Nokomis, and Jon Reuther and partner Destiny Stuttle of Virden and his grandchildren, Aubrey Reuther, Ryan Quinn, Lauren Reuther, Lane Bailey, Lynnia Barrett, Nolen Laubscher, Mason Longwell, and Beau Stuttle.

 

Visitation will be held at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. A private burial will follow on Monday. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Charcot Marie Tooth Association (CMTA).
