John Lee Klekamp, 79, of Litchfield passed away peacefully surrounded by all of his family, Tuesday May 20, 2025 at 10:01 pm at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on November 21, 1945 in Litchfield, IL, a son of Frank and Awanda (Gorrell) Klekamp. He attended Litchfield High School. John was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam War. In 1964, he married Elaine Horn. They would later divorce. He married Barbara "Butch" Burdell Klekamp on April 12, 1974 at Hillsboro, IL
He embraced life's adventures with enthusiasm, from trap shooting to riding motorcycles with his wife Butch. Tackling motocross with his boys, always seeking the thrill of the ride. His skill at the card table and chess board. He was also a dedicated coin hunter, constantly searching for hidden treasures. He enjoyed sorting through his discoveries with his Grandson Chance. Beyond his hobbies, his greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, kind heart, and warm smile.
Besides his spouse, Barbara "Butch" he is survived by: three sons, Donald (Carla) Jacobs of Litchfield, IL, Jerry Lee Klekamp of Girard, IL, Frank (Carol) Klekamp of Vandalia, IL; daughter, Shawn (Brian) Holliday of Litchfield, IL; 13 grandchildren, Chance Holliday, Mahina Holliday, Greyson Holliday, Nyla Klekamp, Tarence Klekamp, Trevor Klekamp, Nora Kelso, Ali Jacobs, Desi Jacobs, Donald Jacobs, Jr., Devon Hammond, Lacey Coney, and Destiny Klekamp, and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son; Warren "Butchie" Randall Burdell, grandson; Allen Wilson, and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 5 until 7 pm at Litchfield Family Funeral Services, 700 S. State St., Litchfield, IL.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 10:00 am at Litchfield Family Funeral Services, 700 S. State St., Litchfield, IL, presided by Pastor Fred Kraemer.
Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield, IL, with full military rites.
