Kenneth Knutson Obituary

On Friday, 1/8/2021, after 97 years, Kenneth Harvey Knutson of Litchfield departed what he called "a wonderful life". Ken was born July 10, 1923, in Armstrong, IA, to Harvey and Ida Knudson and cherished memories of growing up as a farm boy. On November 20, 1946, Ken married the love of his life Marilyn Louise Sogard, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They shared 74 happy years together raising five children. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many.

After military service in Korea, Ken enjoyed his career in the agri-business sales field with Cargill, King Milling, W.R. Grace and ending with Zimmerman Grain Dryers. He loved his work and credited his award-winning sales success to treating customers fairly and honestly. After retiring, Ken worked part-time transporting buses for the Ponder Equipment Company. He served his community as an assessor and member of the North Litchfield Township Board. Since moving to Litchfield in 1968, Ken was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Ken Loved people and never knew a stranger. He enjoyed boating and relaxing at Lake Lou Yeager with family and friends. Ken delighted in socializing as a member of the Moose and Elks Lodges and playing golf and cards at the Litchfield Country Club. He loved hunting and fishing, especially when it entailed memorable trips in the US and Canada. He was a loyal friend and a storyteller par excellence. Ken's patio was always open for conversation and laughter.

Ken is survived by his wife Marilyn, sons Richard (Susan) and Ken, and daughters Susan Palsenberger (Larry) and Marcia (Scott), daughter-in-law Maggie Knutson, Ken leaves eight devoted grandchildren an six great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his beloved son Ron.

A celebration of life will take place at a future date.
