Marilyn Sue (Driskell) Behrendt

Marilyn Sue Behrendt, 77, of Lansing Michigan, formerly of Litchfield, Illinois, passed away on              November 7,2016 at the Willows of East Lansing, at 10:05pm.

Sue was born on September 13, 1939 in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of the late James E. Driskell and Virginia Adala Arnold.  She married John N. Behrendt on November 4, 1961 in Litchfield, IL and he survives.

Sue graduated from Litchfield High School and went on to further her education at Carthage College in Wisconsin and then earned her Masters Degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL

She was a school teacher for the Litchfield Community School District where she retired as a Special Education Teacher in 1999. One of her proudest moments was receiving the Teacher of the Year Award.

Mrs. Behrendt was an active Rotarian serving with the Litchfield Club and belonged to the Eastern Star and P.E.O.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield, IL where she served as an elder and clerk. 

Along with her husband, John Behrendt of Lansing, MI, formerly of Litchfield, Sue is survived by her daughters, Amy Catherine Moore of Texas and Beth (Jon) Lundy of Lansing, MI and 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Moore, Sarah Lundy, David Moore, Claire Lundy and Christian Lundy. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. Rev. Dr.  Leslie J. Mitkos will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield, IL. The family of Sue suggests memorial contributions be directed to Rotary International Foundation Polio Plus Fund.
