Retired Officer, Richard Dean “Dick” Elledge, 85, of Litchfield, IL, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Gillespie, IL
He was born on November 16, 1935 in Fairbury, IL, a son of the late William Russell and Anna Pearl (Mitchell) Elledge.
Dick graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1953.
Mr. Elledge married the former Marian Hesterberg on October 20, 1957 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, IL.
Officer Elledge honorably served the Litchfield Police Department from 1969-1989. Following his retirement, he then served the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office as a Court Officer from 1989-1999.
He was a founding member of the Litchfield Sportsman Club, Litchfield Park District, and Board and Trustee for Edgewood Cemetery and was the officer for police pension board for several years.
Anyone who encountered Dick, were in for treat with all the stories, knowledge, and education that he would share about history and Indian facts. He never left a conversation without instilling a fact that you didn’t know.
He is survived by his wife, Marian of Litchfield, IL,
Sons, Dean (Heidi) Elledge of Tucson, AZ & Glen (Ruth) Elledge of Springfield, MO
Grandchildren , Aaron, Jessica, & Zachary Elledge & Rachel (Chad) Niemeier.
Great-grandchildren, Maddox & Harper Niemeier
Several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald & Clinton “Bud” Elledge.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. at the Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Cremations Rites will follow services and burial will commence at a later date.
