Richard L. Jarman

Richard L. Jarman, 78, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday evening, October 19, 2024 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Richard was born on July 28, 1946 to Sylvester and Wilma (Hicks) Jarman in Litchfield, IL. 

Richard graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1965.  Shortly after graduation, he joined the US Army and served his country for four years.  While in the army, Richard married Shirley A. Wilson in Litchfield on November 21, 1965.  She preceded him in death on November 18, 2016.   After his military service, Richard worked at the Brown Shoe Company for a short time, and then became a welder for Schien Trucking in Carlinville and later at McHenry Truck Equipment in St. Louis, Missouri, where he retired.  After retirement, he worked part time at Wal-Mart in Litchfield.   Richard loved to bowl, usually hitting the lanes four or five times a week.  He rolled several 300 games over the years.  He and Shirley took their camper to Sherwood Forrest Campgrounds in Hillsboro every April and stayed until October.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Richard was a strong family man and enjoyed being around each and every one of them.

 Richard is survived by his daughter, Shelley (Tim) Oller of Litchfield, IL; two sons, Mike (Cindy) Jarman of Litchfield, IL and Mark (Ruth) Jarman of Litchfield, IL; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rosemary Martin of Litchfield, IL, Teresa Hemken of Eagerville, IL and Jolynn Hemken of Donnellson, IL; several nieces and nephews.  

 Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester M. Jarman, Sr. and Wilma M. Jarman; wife, Shirley A Jarman; brothers, Robert Hicks and Sylvester Hicks, Jr.; sister, Janet Conner.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Litchfield VFW, 215 W. Ryder St, from 2-4 PM.
