Ronald Kent Howard, Sr.

Ronald Kent Howard, Sr. 75, of Litchfield, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 1:36 P.M. at the Hillsboro Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro, IL.

He was born on  October 26, 1946 in Litchfield, IL, a son of the late John Edward & Bonnie (Jones) Howard.

Ron graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1964. He married the former Marylee Ann McKinney on December 26, 1964 in Litchfield, IL and she preceded him in death on January 10, 2008.

Ron was the manager of the Parts Department for the  Illinois State Police Communications Department in Springfield, IL, for several 35 years until his retirement in 2000.

Ron was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, IL. He enjoyed watching wrestling, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s Baseball fan, and enjoyed classic cars, especially the 1957 Chevy.

He is survived by:

Sons, Ronald Kent Howard, Jr. of Litchfield, IL & Brian L. (Dianna) Howard of Litchfield, IL

Sister, Donna Schmelter of Litchfield, IL

Grandchildren,  Brian, Levi, and Victoria Howard

5 great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son, Dennis Howard in infancy.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield, IL. The family will gather at Litchfield Family Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M. to proceed to the cemetery for services. John Stewart will lead the committal service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield.
