Ronald L. “Ron” Schwab, 79, of Litchfield, IL, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2:48 P.M. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
He was born on November 18, 1940 in Litchfield, IL, a son of John Joseph and Emma (Kuntzmann) Schwab.
On January 20, 1968 he married the former Sharon Sue Niemann at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, IL.
Ron attended West Point Country School and graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1958. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army National Guard of Illinois with the 130th infantry, earning the rank of corporal.
Ron was a lifelong farmer, farming on the family farm in Honey Point Township. He was a member of Living Stones Church in Litchfield.
Ron was a family man. He was the biggest fan of his grandchildren and would cheer them on from the sidelines of any activity they participated in. He enjoyed annual summer trips with his family and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. His opinions on political matters will be sorely missed by all who were brave enough to listen and his skills for organization and decorating will never be replaced.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Schwab of Litchfield and:
Children, Julie Schwab of Brighton, CO
Jennifer (Ben) Lippold of Carlinville, IL
Benjamin (Jenny) Schwab of Litchfield, IL
Grandchildren, Kirsten & Bailey Lippold & Tug, Sam and Maggie Schwab
Brother, Darrell Lee (Joyce) Schwab of Litchfield, IL
Sisters, Joyce Vedder of Waverly, IL
Carolyn Schwab of Litchfield, IL
Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gene and Lyndal Schwab, sisters, Melba Hartke and Maxine Nimmons.
