Russell L. Massa

Russell L. Massa, 87, of Raymond, IL passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:05 P.M. at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Litchfield, IL.

He was born on March 6, 1930 in Atwater, IL, a son of Loy & Alberta (Link) Massa.

Russell was a Veteran of the United States Airforce, Active Guard and was stationed in Texas and California.

Mr. Massa married the former Joyce DeWerff on November 19, 1950 in Mt. Olive, IL and she survives.

Russell graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1948.

He was a lifelong farmer and had a fertilizer plant. Along with his wife, Joyce, they owned and operated Massa Oak Furniture in Raymond for 30 years.

Along with his wife, Joyce, he is survived by his son, Leonard and wife Beverly of Litchfield, IL; grandchildren, Marcy (Josh) Welsh of Carlinville, IL & Kelly (Jared) Nuckolls of Middleton, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Blaize and Pierce Rovey, Elizabeth, Shawna, and Joshua Welsh; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Howard and Galen Massa.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. Rev. Dayle Badman, of Morrisonville, IL will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 until service time at Litchfield Family Funeral Service.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
