Verna F. Baker-Porter, 86, of Hillsboro, IL, passed way Saturday, February 5, 2022 at her residence.
She was born on March 4, 1935 in Honey Bend, IL, the first child of the late Harold “Turk” & Gladys (Davis) Williams and graduated from Gillespie High School, and continued classes at Lincoln Land Community College.
She began working at Litchfield National Bank in 1953 and continued working there until August 2, 2012, when she retired as Vice-President & Cashier. She was married in 1954 to Fred Baker and later divorced. She married Steven E. Porter of Nokomis on June 22, 1996; he survives.
She is also survived by her son, Gary Wayne (Theresa) Baker; step-daughter, Shelby Lynn Porter; grandchildren Heather (Branden) Vega, Hallie Baker, Travis (Tasha Sullivan) Baker, Kristie Staley, David (Alana) Baker; great grandchildren, Andrew & Conner Sarver, Dylan, Adam, EmmaRose & J.R. Baker, Kylie Kim, Jason Staley, Jr., & Kennedy Staley. great-great grandchildren, Khloe Hodge & Brantley Sullivan; sisters, Barbara Lemon, Lynn Titsworth, Rhonda Morgan; brothers, David (Georgia) Williams, Jim (Rita) Williams, Mark (Debby) Williams; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Steven Andrew Baker, sister, Alma Grantham, Sandra Carroll, Kathy Jo Williams; brothers, John Dewey Williams (killed in Vietnam), Albert C. Williams.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield, IL. Grandson, David Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 8:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
